If you know the Marx brothers, then you might know the answer. (: Gummo and Zeppo left the Marx brothers and made their own business. Why did they leave. And so today I found out that… Gummo was drafted while they were still a vaudeville act. Zeppo replaced him and decided to leave the team for new business ventures. Both became very successful. Neither had much success in the act. Gummo never developed a comic persona to equal his brothers and was relegated to the juvenile part. Zeppo was considered to be talented, but was inherited the juvenile part, and by then there was no room in the act for another comedian. By 1933, he was no longer interested in performing, and was becoming too old to play a romantic lead anyway.
