I love her characters as an elderly lady in Harold and Maude, Every Which Way But Loose, and others but she sort of played the same kind of characters. Was curious if anyone might have seen her play different kinds of roles well or if she just finally found her niche with age. Well, I have your answer right here. One of her greatest roles in my opinion was as the mother of Natalie Wood in "Inside Daisy Clover. " She won an acadamy award for that roll. I love this movie. It had an incredible cast including Christopher Plumber and Robert Redford as well as Ruth Gordon and Natalie Wood. I did see her in the 1940 movie "Abe Lincoln in Illinois" where she played Mary Todd Lincoln. You might want to check these two movies out. Enjoy.
